For your safety, it’s important to have headlights that function properly. We know that it can be frustrating if yours aren’t working like they should. Our Jeep® service experts are Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM Asheville are sharing three possible causes.

Your Lightbulb Has Burnt Out

Before you start searching for serious issues, start with the easiest fix. If your headlights aren’t working, you may just need a new lightbulb. Typically, your headlights will dim or start to flicker before they burn out completely, so this is a good warning sign to watch for.

You Have a Blown Fuse

If both of your headlights are out, you may have a blown fuse; a single fuse can control both of your headlights. To determine if this is the problem, you can visually inspect it and look for unusual wear or a darkened filament (which is the metal strip that’s inside your fuse). If a blown fuse is to blame, you’ll need to replace it with a new fuse that has the same amperage rating.

You Have Bad Wiring

If your lightbulbs and fuses are fine, you may have a more serious issue. Your vehicle’s wiring is complex, and damage could cause several issues in your vehicle. So, if you have bad wiring, you should have your vehicle inspected by our Jeep-certified technicians. Typically, if you have bad wiring, you’ll also see warning signs such as a burning smell, dim headlights, or unresponsive high beams.
