It’s not an overstatement to say that your brakes are lifesavers every time you hit the road. Because they’re so essential, you need to maintain them properly, and our Dodge parts department offers three tips for how you can do it.

Be Careful How You Drive

Your braking system puts in a lot of work whenever you drive, which is why it’s important to alleviate the strain as much as you can. While slamming on the brakes is sometimes unavoidable – like when a car veers into your lane unexpectedly – try to maneuver as gently as you can. For example, when approaching a red light or stop sign, don’t wait until the last second to step on the pedal.

Don’t Ignore Problems

If something is wrong with your brakes, you’ll probably know it. If you hear a squeaking sound when you step on the pedal, this is a big warning sign that your pads are wearing out. If the pedal is spongey or you have to press until it hits the floor, you might want to visit our service center

Get Regular Service

Perhaps the best way to keep your brakes in good shape is by having them looked at regularly. In general, your brakes should be inspected at least once per year. This will allow a technician to gauge their condition and let you know if something is wearing down so you can be proactive about replacing it.
