The release of new model year pickup trucks always ignites a debate over which automaker manufacturers the most capable, durable, and tech-filled pickups. At the top of the pickup truck heap are the 2021 RAM 1500 and the 2021 Ford F-150.

These two trucks are some of the most popular RAM trucks and Ford trucks on the market, and truck buyers will likely want to compare the two. Here is a brief head-to-head comparison.

Powertrains Options

Engine power is one of the biggest considerations for pickup truck buyers in North Carolina, and the 2021 RAM 1500 comes through with three available powertrain options. The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with efficiency-boosting eTorque technology, which cranks out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. At the top of the line is the massive 5.7-liter V8 engine, which is good for 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.

On the other hand, the 2021 Ford F-150 also has a few available engines. However, the base V6 engine only cranks out 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque, falling just short of the output numbers produced by the base engine of the RAM truck.

Comfort and Technology

The 2021 RAM 1500, now available at our Asheville NC RAM dealership, boasts a sleek, luxurious interior that can stand up to everyday wear. Buyers can choose from cloth or leather seats, a heated steering wheel, and even real wood accents.

When it comes to technology, the 2021 RAM 1500 edges in front of the Ford F-150, largely due to its 8.4-inch Uconnect® screen. This easy-to-use system has both analog and touchscreen controls for the ultimate convenience. While the Ford Sync system shares some features, its screen measures only eight inches.

Find out for yourself why the 2021 RAM 1500 is at the top of the pickup truck heap by taking it for a spin at Fields Chrysler Jeep® Dodge RAM of Asheville. We look forward to seeing you soon!
